President Donald Trump administered the oath of office to new Secret Service Director Sean Curran on Monday evening at the White House.
Curran previously served as the head of Trump’s Secret Service detail and personally shielded the president with his body following the failed attempt on Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania, last summer.
Curran was photographed standing to Trump’s left as the president, dripping blood from his face, was rushed from the stage in Butler with his fist raised in the air.

The new Secret Service director faced tough questioning about the Secret Service’s actions on and leading up to the Butler assassination attempt during his Senate confirmation hearing last month. That event led to significant reforms within the agency, and Curran has stated continued improvements
