While he has suffered an uptick in criticism following the chaotic rollout of tariffs, President Donald Trump is proving much harder to knock down than in his first administration four years ago.
Some new polls show he has been nicked by the tariff confusion, but it’s nothing the White House said it is concerned about. Polls such as Rasmussen Reports show that after a tiny dip earlier in the week, the president’s approval rating has leveled off.
Much more than in 2017, the public is giving Trump time and room to work through his agenda. That has helped to soften the blows from Democrats and steady his base, including those new to “Make America Great Again,” including black and Hispanic voters.
