Trump says oil will flow ‘with or without’ Iran’s help, warns against tanker fees

President Donald Trump demanded Thursday that Iran “better stop now” if it is charging fees against oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

“There are reports that Iran is charging fees to tankers going through the Hormuz Strait — They better not be and, if they are, they better stop now!” Trump wrote in a post to Truth Social.

In a subsequent post, Trump said that oil will “start flowing, with or without the help of Iran.”

The Iranian regime was reportedly planning to start charging $1 per barrel of oil, payable in cryptocurrency, according to the Financial Times. The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz has been a sticking point in negotiations between the United States and Iran, with Iran using it as leverage.
