Trump says Iran is ‘in very bad shape,’ doesn’t care if regime comes back to table ahead of planned Strait of Hormuz blockade

President Trump said Monday Iran is “in very bad shape” ahead of the planned US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz which comes into force at 10 a.m. EDT.

“I would say it’s holding well. Their military is destroyed, their whole navy is underwater. One hundred fifty ships are gone, their navy is gone,” Trump told reporters outside of Joint Base Andrews in Maryland when asked how the cease-fire is holding with Iran.

“I think Iran is in very bad shape. I think they’re pretty desperate,” Trump said. “We had a meeting that lasted 21 hours. We understand the situation better than anybody, and Iran’s in very bad shape.
