President Donald Trump lauded Secretary of State Marco Rubio‘s capabilities during a National Day of Prayer event in the Rose Garden, foreshadowing the president’s surprise announcement that Rubio will replace outgoing national security adviser Mike Waltz.
“Marco Rubio, unbelievable, unbelievable. Marco, when I have a problem, I call up Marco. He gets it solved,” the president said about the Secretary of State.
Trump repeatedly praised several other members of his Cabinet, but did not mention that he would nominate Waltz for the United Nations ambassadorship. Rumors swirled Thursday morning that Waltz and deputy national security adviser Alex Wong were getting the boot from the National Security Council.
