The Justice Department has published a list of cities, counties, and states that identify as “sanctuary” zones or places where law enforcement will not turn over illegal immigrants to federal immigration authorities.
The DOJ on Tuesday highlighted the top jurisdictions on the Trump administration’s radar, including 13 states, four counties, and 18 cities. One state may include dozens to hundreds of cities that are marked as sanctuary zones because of the state policy.
The Trump administration issued a sharp warning to the sanctuary jurisdictions, threatening further lawsuits from places that release suspected or convicted criminal illegal immigrants back onto the streets rather than transfer them to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
