‘The Little Mermaid’ Expected To Earn $120M Opening Weekend Despite Ho-Hum Reviews


The Little Mermaid” is projected to pull in around $120 million during its opening weekend despite mixed reviews of the live action Disney film.

The movie will also earn an estimated $80 million overseas between Friday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, per The Hollywood Reporter.

If the $120 million projection is accurate, that would mean “The Little Mermaid” would have the fifth biggest domestic start for Memorial Day weekend. That title currently belongs to Disney’s live-action version of “Aladdin,” which earned $116.8 million during the holiday weekend in 2019.
