A Texas Ranger and Border Patrol agents helped women and children reach dry land after crossing the Rio Grande river from Mexico in an inflatable raft, according to new images from Reuters.
The photos from Monday show the US officials reaching a hand out to the boat full of illegal immigrants as it nears the riverbank near Roma, Texas, in the darkness, the only light coming from the headlamps and flashlights of the border agents.
On board the raft, children sit in their mothers’ laps as others — many as young as toddlers — begin to make their way to the front.
Other images show the female Texas Ranger holding a crying child in her arms.
Members of the Texas Rangers have been assisting the Border Patrol in its efforts to halt smuggling and human trafficking at the US-Mexico border in the Lone Star State.
