Texas military base put on active shooter lockdown

A US military base in San Antonio, Texas, was on lockdown Wednesday amid reports of an active shooter.

Officials at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland confirmed the lockdown but didn’t provide any additional details, base officials said on Twitter.

“Active Shooter warning for all JBSA-Lackland personnel,” the tweet said. “All base personnel implement LOCKDOWN procedures immediately and take cover.”

San Antonio police officers and Texas state troopers were also called to the base.

In a follow-up tweet, the base reported “no suspected injuries at this time.”

“The shooting is suspected to have happened outside Valley Hi Gate on JBSA-Lackland,” the post said. “JBSA emergency responders are working with the SAPD to clear the area and search for the shooters.”

Authorities said two suspects reportedly fired at the base and fled the scene, WOAI-TV said in a report

The lockdown was ordered around 12:30 p.m.

No other details were immediately released.
