Taliban Claims Victory Against Panjshir Resistance

The Taliban on Monday claimed to have captured Panjshir Valley, stronghold of the anti-Taliban resistance movement headed by Ahmad Massoud and former Afghan vice president Amrullah Saleh. The National Resistance Front (NRF) disputed the Taliban’s claims and vowed to continue fighting.

“Panjshir province, the last stronghold of the mercenary enemy, was completely conquered,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said via Twitter on Monday morning.

“Taliban’s claim of occupying Panjshir is false,” the NRF responded in a tweet of its own.
