State trooper shot dead while on duty wasn’t found for 14 hours: cops

The body of a veteran Louisiana state trooper who was gunned down on duty wasn’t found for a “absolutely unacceptable” 14 hours, the department’s superintendent revealed Monday.

Master Trooper Adam Gaubert, a 19-year member of the force, was working a traffic accident in Ascension Parish after 2:30 a.m. Saturday when he was killed during a string of shootings that also left a woman dead.

But authorities didn’t find his body until about 5 p.m. that day — after cops had arrested and charged the accused gunman, department Superintendent Lamar Davis said at a news conference on the tragedy on Monday.
