State Republicans Introduce Legislation To Classify ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ As Mental Illness


Minnesota Senate Republicans have introduced legislation to classify ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ as a mental illness.

“A bill for an act relating to mental health; modifying the definition of mental illness; adding a definition for Trump Derangement Syndrome; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, sections 245.462, subdivision 20, by adding a subdivision; 245I.02, subdivision 29, by adding a subdivision,” SF 2589 reads.

“The bill, authored by Sen. Lucero and others, seeks to recognize TDS as a clinical disorder that seriously limits a person’s ability to function in daily life,” Mario Nawfal wrote.

“If passed, TDS could be grounds for mental health intervention, similar to other psychiatric conditions requiring inpatient care or long-term treatment. The bill is now under review by the Health and Human Services Committee,” he added.
