Social media users mocked a tweet by the New York Post that pictured the family of Sen. Ted Cruz soaking up the Mexico sun while Texans back home were stuck in freezing temperatures.
“Oh I’m sorry, are his daughters supposed to shovel my driveway?” asked Blaze TV host Sara Gonzalez.
Gonzales acknowledged that the Cruz trip might have been a “stupid decision,” but she questioned what the senator’s daughters were “supposed to do” as many Texans freeze back home.
Gonzales wasn’t the only one to take issue with the New York Post tweet, with others wondering why the media was still following around the senator’s family despite him already having returned to Texas.
“Outrageous,” said conservative commentator Matt Walsh. “His daughters should be back in Texas fixing the power grid. Damned lazy kids.”
Others thought there was nothing wrong with protecting one’s family from potentially threatening weather conditions.
