The Senate confirmation of President Joe Biden’s only outstanding Cabinet member has been complicated by a connection with disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Eric Lander, Biden’s pick to direct the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, was photographed with Epstein in 2012, and the pair’s meetings have been investigated further by the Senate Commerce Committee’s top Democrat, Washington’s Maria Cantwell, according to a report.
Cantwell’s office did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment, but the senator told Politico Lander’s hearing had been set for April 29, well after some other Biden Cabinet members.
“We’re having a hearing on him next week, and we’ll see what happens with that,” she said.
Lander has spoken with Cantwell over the course of his nomination, the White House told the Washington Examiner.
