Federal authorities were forced to abandon their plans to arrest Yoon on Friday after civilian supporters and armed Presidential Security Service personnel outnumbered the forces attempting to enter the Seoul residence.
The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials reported following the incident that “it was virtually impossible to execute the arrest warrant due to the ongoing standoff.”

The office received a warrant to detain Yoon for questioning in relation to his ill-fated martial law declaration last month that sent national politics into a spiral.
