Second judge rules against Trump’s federal layoffs, orders administration to rehire fired government workers


The Trump administration suffered a judicial setback on Thursday night regarding the layoffs of federal workers. It was the second such ruling against the Trump administration on the day. 

U.S. District Judge James Bredar ruled late Thursday that blocked the administration’s order of mass layoffs of probationary federal workers, multiple sources reported. Bredar’s decision means that, for the time being, those employees who lost their jobs due to the presidential administration’s cuts were to be reinstated. Bredar is a U.S. district judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. He was appointed by then-President Barack Obama in 2010.
