An elderly woman has lost $12,000 after a fraudster pretending to work at JPMorgan Chase duped her into thinking her account was in trouble.
The 78-year-old victim says she received a call from a person claiming to be a representative of the banking giant’s fraud department, reports the local outlet Cleveland.com.
The victim says the caller warned her that someone was attempting to withdraw $9,000 from her Chase savings account.

To stop the fraudulent transaction, the scammer told her that she had to withdraw $12,000 in cash and hand it over to an “FBI agent” for safekeeping.
The victim says she rushed to a local Chase branch and followed the scammer’s instructions to keep her phone inside her pocket while staying on the line.
