A 12-year-old Russian boy is fighting for his life after being mauled by a pack of dogs in the same area where a 20-year-old beautician suffered a similar attack last month, according to a report.
The unidentified boy, who suffered severe injuries to his head, limbs and upper body while returning home from school Tuesday, has been placed in a medically induced coma, East2West News reported.
“The condition of the child on admission is extremely difficult, due to severe traumatic, hemorrhagic shock,” the Buryatia Children’s Hospital said in a statement.
“There is a struggle to maintain his vital functions and restore damaged tissues,” it added.
Olga Shergina, the boy’s grandmother, said he has been afraid of dogs ever since one bit him when he was little.
“Dogs feel when a person is afraid of them, and perhaps they rushed at him,” she said, according to the outlet.
His attack occurred near the spot in the eastern Siberia city of Ulan-Ude
