Comedian-turned wellness guru Russell Brand has denied the sexual assault charges leveled against him by British police Friday, insisting he “never” was a rapist.
The 49-year-old quickly vowed to fight the charges — just hours after the Metropolitan Police revealed the star had been accused of assaulting four women between 1999 and 2005 at the height of his fame.
“I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord. I was a drug addict, a sex addict and an imbecile, but what I never was was a rapist,” he said in a video statement on Instagram.
