President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani on Thursday condemned the violent assault on the US Capitol as “shameful” – a day after calling for a “trial by combat” during a “Save America” rally.
“It was as criminal as the rioting and looting this summer which was not condemned strongly enough by the Left,” the former New York City mayor said in a tweet.
“This violence is condemned in the strongest terms. Our movement values respect for law and order and for the Police,” added Giuliani, who led the legal challenges to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, most of which did not hold up in court.
In a later tweet, Giuliani said: “Our cause is to obtain an honest vote and to end voter fraud before it becomes a permanent tactic of the enabled and media protected Democrat Party.
