Resident allegedly kills 2 in shooting at Maryland senior home


Two people were shot dead at a Maryland senior living center early Friday — allegedly by a disgruntled resident who snapped over mistreatment, according to a friend and witness.

Prince George’s County police tweeted that they were called at 9:15 a.m. to an “active scene” at Gateway Village, a church-run affordable rental community for those over age 62.

A nearby elementary school was put on lockdown as officers continued “searching the facility for any additional victims as well as suspects,” the force tweeted.

The lockdown was lifted around 90 minutes later as the force again tweeted, “Scene is now secure … No ongoing threat to [the] community.”
