Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed a bill shielding pesticide manufacturers from some cancer-related lawsuits, becoming the second state to pass such legislation.
“North Dakota’s governor signed the first such law last month, and similar measures have been considered this year in at least nine other states,” the Associated Press noted.
The bill is viewed as a significant win for global agrochemical maker Bayer.
“Behind closed doors, Governor Brian Kemp just signed SB 144—a corrupt liability shield for Monsanto/Bayer, the maker of RoundUp, which has already faced billions in legal judgments for harming Americans,” the Georgia Freedom Caucus stated.
