Rep. Chip Roy’s epic rant over House requiring women register for draft: ‘Go straight to hell’

Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy blasted lawmakers on both sides of the aisle on the House Armed Services Committee for voting in favor of an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act requiring women to register for the military draft, tweeting that its supporters can “go straight to hell.”

The amendment, led by Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pa.), was adopted in a 35-24 vote on Wednesday, with the final bill expected to come to the floor later this month.

In a lengthy Twitter thread directed at his congressional colleagues on Friday, Roy said he does “not trust you [lawmakers] to do anything at all, much less say you will draft my daughter to ‘non combat’ roles,” citing his frustrations on an array of policy issues he disagrees with that received bipartisan support ranging from fiscal issues to the handling of the southern border.
