‘Reckless And Irresponsible’: Tennessee Republicans Ask Governor To Stop Distribution Of Vaccines For Young Children


NASHVILLE, TN — Tennessee Republicans moved this week to ask Governor Bill Lee (R-TN) to direct the Tennessee Department of Health to not promote or distribute the COVID vaccine for children under five.

The letter authored by Rep. Jason Zachary (R-Knoxville) asks Lee to direct the Tennessee Department of Health to “halt distribution, promotion or recommendation of COVID-19 vaccines for our youngest Tennesseans.”

It follows the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) approval of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for children between the ages of six months to five years.

Zachary disagreed, telling The Daily Wire that it was “reckless and irresponsible” to promote vaccinating this age group, saying that more research needed to be done. He also pointed out the low risk for young children to get seriously sick
