On December 22, 2020, President Donald Trump fully pardoned two former Border Patrol agents. Back in 2007, a federal prosecutor pressed two charges against the two agents. The Border Patrol agents, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, were engaged in a shooting incident of a drug smuggler back in 2005. They were sentenced to 11 and 12 years in federal prison, respectively, for shooting and wounding an illegal alien drug smuggler at the southern border in 2005.
“These former Border Patrol Agents have been supported by one hundred members of Congress, including Rep. Louie Gohmert, Rep. Steve King, Rep. Ted Poe, Rep. Paul Gosar, Rep. Brian Babin, as well as the U.S. Border Control Foundation and the Conservative Legal Defense and Education Fund,” the White House declared in a written statement.
