Pope Francis health: How the papal funeral will be different this time


Pope Francis is currently receiving care at Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome, Italy, where he was transferred on Friday for treatment of bronchitis after a dip in his health.

The pontiff was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia, a serious condition for an 88-year-old man who had part of one lung removed during his youth, but the Vatican said he’s in “good spirits.”

“The Holy Father’s clinical condition is stable,” the Holy See Press Office announced Wednesday afternoon. “Blood tests, evaluated by the medical staff, show a slight improvement, particularly in the inflammatory indices.”
