Pence expected to be at Biden inauguration: Report

Vice President Mike Pence is expected to attend President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony.

Three sources told Politico that Pence wants to show support for the peaceful transition of power from one administration to another.

The vice president flatly refused to defy the certification of the 2020 election on Wednesday, and the president publicly criticized him for doing so. Amid the certification process, a mob of rioters were able to breach the Capitol and forced members of Congress to be evacuated and hunker down for several hours.

“It was a much more difficult decision days ago, but less difficult now,” a person close to Pence told the outlet.

It is customary for a president to be in attendance at their successor’s inaugural ceremony, but President Trump has declined to say whether he will attend Biden’s event.
