For the decades I’ve been in the news biz, especially on radio and TV where sound and pictures are paramount, a reporter must not be afraid to ask the simple — some might say dumb — questions. A reporter usually gets the best answers by asking the simplest of questions. Follow-up questions are where the reporter gets crucial information and builds out a news story.
