NYC continues to have lowest COVID rate in the state

New York City’s COVID-19 positivity rate is on its way down and continues to be under statewide rates for the virus, according to newly released data.

The statewide positivity rate, measured on a seven-day average, was 3.28 percent on Friday, Gov. Kathy Hochul said Saturday.

New York City had the lowest rate in the state of 2.39 percent on Friday

Of the 157,302 test results reported statewide Friday, 5,030 — or 3.2 percent — were positive.

There were 28 deaths reported statewide, with 12 of those coming in the five boroughs.

More than 80 percent of adult New Yorkers, ages 18 and older, have received at least one vaccine dose, and 72.1 percent have completed their COVID vaccinations.

The state recorded 388,164 doses of the coronavirus vaccine administered over the last seven days.
