A New Jersey man is facing five counts of attempted homicide after allegedly cutting a gas line at a Pennsylvania home while a family of five slept inside, according to authorities.
Ryan Elliott, 30, is accused of sneaking into the home in a Philadelphia suburb around 5 a.m. Thursday and cutting the line near an “incendiary device,” the Chester County District Attorney announced on Facebook.
Prosecutors said Elliott “had been in a relationship with one of the family members living in the residence” in West Whiteland Township.
“The homeowner told officers that he awoke to a strong natural gas smell in the residence,” the DA said in a statement. “The homeowner checked the basement and found the gas line had been cut. Five family members were inside the residence at the time of this incident.
“It was later discovered entry had been made into the residence by an unknown person,” the statement said. “Investigators observed a cut gas line
