Democrats claimed they supported voter ID, even as they opposed the SAVE America Act over other provisions. So lawmakers put forward a stripped-down amendment: just show a photo ID to vote. Simple. Clean. No extras.
Nearly every Democrat voted it down. The measure failed in the Senate on Thursday, despite Chuck Schumer saying days earlier his party wasn’t against voter ID.
So much for their lies . When it came time to act, they killed the very standard they claimed to support.
