The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division [SLED] revealed on Sunday that it had received a 911 call around 1:30 p.m. when Murdaugh, a member of a long-standing South Carolina legal dynasty whose wife and younger son were murdered in June,  said he had been shot on Old Salkehatchie Road near Varnville, South Carolina, according to WLTX.

SLED said in a release the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office secured the scene while EMS air-transported Murdaugh to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia for treatment of a “superficial” gunshot wound to the head.
