Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is preparing to go to war with former president Donald Trump over control of the Republican Party in the years to come.
McConnell is suggesting that he will destroy pro-MAGA candidates to emerge over the next election cycle, claiming that he will be vetting all of them for “electability” concerns.
“My goal is, in every way possible, to have nominees representing the Republican Party who can win in November,” McConnell said. “Some of them may be people the former president likes. Some of them may not be. The only thing I care about is electability.”

“I’m not predicting the president would support people who couldn’t win. But I do think electability — not who supports who — is the critical point,” he added.
