Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar reveals breast cancer diagnosis

Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar has revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and has undergone radiation treatment.

The 61-year-old said Thursday doctors found a lump on her breast during a routine mammogram back in February.

Following a biopsy, Klobuchar said she was diagnosed with Stage 1A breast cancer — meaning it hadn’t spread beyond her breast.

“Of course this has been scary at times, since cancer is the word all of us fear, but at this point my doctors believe that my chances of developing cancer again are no greater than the average person.”
