Democratic Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey fended off socialist challenger Omar Fateh to win his third term in Tuesday’s 2025 election.
After the first round, Frey led with 42% of votes compared to Fateh’s 32%. Other challengers also received a considerable amount of votes, including DeWayne Davis and Jazz Hampton, who got 14% and 10% of votes, respectively.
In the last round of voting, Frey finally achieved a slim majority, 50.03%, with 73,723 votes, compared to Fateh’s 65,377 votes.
