Meta addresses allegations of auto-follows to Trump’s presidential accounts


A barrage of complaints that Instagram and Facebook users were automatically following President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance prompted a response from its parent company, Meta.

As former President Joe Biden left office, his followers stayed tuned into the POTUS handle. So, when Trump entered office, he assumed the same social media handle, and all of Biden’s followers became his. The allegations that Meta was forcing these followers to automatically follow the new president, vice president, and first lady were false, according to Meta spokesperson Andy Stone.
