Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell accused President Biden of pulling a “bait and switch” on American voters, alleging the president has sought a much more progressive agenda than the one on which he campaigned.
McConnell accused Biden of delivering for the far-left flank of his party while opting not to work across the aisle, the Kentucky Republican emphasizing that he has not yet been invited to meet with the president at the White House.
“I think of it as the Biden bait and switch. But everything he’s recommended so far has been hard left,” McConnell said Thursday on Fox News.
“Bernie Sanders is really happy — he may have lost a nomination, but he won the argument over what today’s Democratic Party is: more taxes, more spending, more borrowing,” he said.
McConnell’s criticisms come just one day after Biden delivered his first joint address to Congress laying out a $6 trillion, big-government agenda largely paid for by increased taxes
