Maryland officials unveil design for Key Bridge replacement


Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD) and other Maryland officials unveiled the design of the new bridge to replace the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore that collapsed last year.

The new bridge will have a different design from the former one, opting for a taller structure with better protection at water level against ship strikes.

The collapsed bridge went down on March 26, 2024, after the Dali container ship crashed into one of its beams. The collapse killed six people who were working on repairs on the bridge during the early morning hours.
