Vice President JD Vance, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, joined President Donald Trump in commemorating Veterans Day on Tuesday with a traditional ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
The speeches, including remarks from Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins, followed a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Vance, considered an early front-runner to replace Trump in 2028, joked that he’s learned over the past few months that the president “really hates when somebody who’s speaking before him goes on for too long.”

“And so with that in mind, I have prepared a very brief and very inspiring one-hour and 45-minute speech on this beautiful Veterans Day Out here in the cold,” he joked, eliciting laughs from the crowd and Trump himself.
