A man took a five-hour bus ride to visit family in Illinois — with suitcases stuffed with a woman’s body parts, police said.
The man, who was not identified, recently hopped on a Greyhound bus in Louisville, Kentucky, with the luggage and headed for the station in Chicago, CBS Chicago reported.
Family members then took him — and, unwittingly, the bags concealing the dismembered body — to their home in Markham.
“That’s even more crazy — traveling body parts,” David Scott, who lives across the street, told the network. “You see stuff like this on TV.”
The kin soon grew suspicious because the man, who Scott said was the son of the homeowners, never unpacked the heavy bags after several days — and kept guarding them.
“There were some early reports of a foul odor coming from the bags,” Markham Police Chief Terry White told the network.
