At the beginning of this year, the political world didn’t know who New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani was.
However, by June, New York media had plastered his name across the headlines. And at the beginning of November, he was elected to lead the nation’s largest city. Mamdani announced Bisgaard-Church’s appointment on Monday, alongside naming Dean Fuleihan, a former aide to former New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, as his first deputy mayor. Mamdani has been building his transition team and mayoral administration since beating former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who ran as an independent, in the general election last week.
