A majority of people want to see President Trump out of office before the end of his term.
Fifty-seven percent of respondents in a Reuters/Ipsos poll, which was conducted on Thursday and Friday, said their opinion most closely aligns with Trump getting removed from office via the 25th Amendment, impeached and removed via Congress, or having him resign. The remaining 43% of the 1,005 respondents surveyed said that the president should finish his term in office.
There is a split down party lines as to whether the president should stay in office for the last 11 days of his presidency given a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol and forced a lockdown because Congress was certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral victory.
Eighty-eight percent of respondents who identified as Democrats don’t want the president to complete his term, while less than a fourth of self-identified conservatives want him out early.
