Congressman Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) spoke at President Donald Trump’s rally against voter fraud last week when he felt it would benefit his political ambitions. After the Capitol siege that resulted in five dead, he is quickly changing his tune.
Cawthorn is backtracking and acting like he never supported the effort to stop the vote steal, even though he is on the record telling people to oppose the fraud.
“Once you start floating this idea of election fraud and people outright stealing an election and cheating, that has only one outcome,” Cawthorne said following the siege. “The party as a whole should have been much more wise about their choice of words.”
