Louisiana shooting spree leaves state trooper, woman dead


A man’s deadly shooting spree in Louisiana left a state trooper and a woman dead, police said.

Matthew Mire, 31, was taken into custody Saturday after a wide-ranging manhunt, the Louisiana State Police said on Saturday at just before 10 p.m.

Mire is suspected of ambushing 19-year veteran State Trooper Adam Gaubert while he sat in his car in Ascension Parish Saturday morning.

“Trooper Gaubert embodied everything we stand for; honor, duty, selfless service, and courage,” a social media post from the state police said.

“In the days ahead, we will mourn his tragic death and honor his service to our department and the citizens of Louisiana.”
