The Trump-supporting rioters who broke into the Capitol building during Wednesday’s deadly insurrection swiped laptops from the offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Jeff Merkley among other electronics, it was revealed Friday.
A Congressional aide to Pelosi said that a laptop was stolen from her office, which protesters ransacked and vandalized during their hours-long siege.
Merkley, a Democrat from Oregon, tweeted video of his trashed office after the raid, saying that a laptop that had been sitting at a conference table was gone.
“They stole the laptop that was sitting on the table next to the telephone,” he says in the video.
Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) initially told reporters on Friday that an iPad went missing during the riot — but then backtracked, CNN reported.
“Whip Clyburn’s iPad is safe and sound. In the chaos on Wednesday, a staffer moved it to a more secure location and other staff was unaware,” a spokesperson for the House Majority
