Israeli military acknowledges deaths of at least 30 hostages


The Israeli military acknowledged on Tuesday that more than 30 of the roughly 136 hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza have been killed since the start of the war.

The acknowledgment that the death toll among hostages is higher than previously reported, combined with unconfirmed information that at least another 20 other hostages could have already been killed as well, according to the New York Times, comes as the American, Egyptian, and Qatari governments pursue an agreement to secure the release of the remaining hostages in exchange for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid to Gaza.
