Kanye West published a series of tweets Friday criticizing contemporary culture’s reaction to his own emotional response that played out publicly in recent weeks, discussing his own experiences with abortion.

“I cried at the thought of aborting my first born and everyone was so concerned about me… I’m concerned for the world that feels you shouldn’t cry about this subject,” West tweeted Friday morning.

“Over 22,500,000 black babies have been aborted over the past 50 years,” West wrote. While abortion is a leading killer of black lives today, where West retrieved the 22,500,000 number is unknown.
