Impaired driver in crash that killed Dallas pol and daughter gets 45 years


A driver under the influence of Ambien who hit a car carrying a former Dallas City Councilwoman and her daughter in 2019, killing both of them, has been sentenced to 45 years in prison.

Jonathan Alger Moore, 38, pleaded guilty to two counts of murder in the deaths of Carolyn Davis, 57, and Melissa Davis Nunn, 27, the Dallas County DA’s office said, according to the Dallas News.

Police said Moore, who had four previous DWI convictions, was under the influence of Ambien on July 15, 2019, when his Mazda SUV slammed head-on into Davis’ Oldsmobile sedan.

Davis was taken to Baylor University Medical Center and pronounced dead; her daughter died later in the week.
