House Passes SAVE Act To Require Proof Of Citizenship To Vote, Four Democrats Support Measure


The House of Representatives passed the ‘Safeguard American Voter Eligibility’ (SAVE) Act to require proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.

The bill passed in a 220-208 vote.

Four Democrats – Reps. Ed Case (D-HI), Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Jared Golden (D-ME), and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA) – joined all present Republicans to pass the measure.
