A House Democrat claimed lawmakers in Congress led groups of people on a “reconnaissance” tour through the U.S. Capitol, the day before a mob of President Trump’s supporters besieged the building.
Rep. Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey said in a Facebook livestream that her elected colleagues appeared to have attempted to aid Trump in overturning the election results by assisting would-be rioters in getting a lay of the land ahead of Jan. 6.
“Not only do I intend to see that the president is removed and never runs for office again and doesn’t have access to classified material,” Sherill said on Tuesday. “I also intend to see the those members of Congress that abetted him, those members of Congress who had groups coming through the Capitol that I saw on Jan. 5th, a reconnaissance for the next day, those members of Congress that incited this violent crowd, those members of Congress that attempted to help our president
